Support ABOUT THE MUSIC at City Council Chambers, 6pm, Tuesday, December 4th, 2018
A Visionary with Santa Fe’s Interests at Heart
Since the late 80s, Santa Fe resident Greg James has been providing projects that enhance clean economic development in Santa Fe. For many years, his film business has provided the support needed for large film crews needing local equipment and services. Now semi-retired, James is focusing his passion towards another much-needed service in his re-modeled film office space: and it’s all ABOUT THE MUSIC.
On his own dime, this long-term resident and film professional has remodeled a 4000 sq. ft space into a versatile music and event venue in the up-and-coming Siler Rufina Nexus. The City-promoted neighborhood houses MEOW WOLF, Second Street Brewery – Rufina Taproom, Duel Brewery, Cacao Santa Fe, Photo Eye Books/Projects, Rose Theater, Paraguas and more.
One of the great features of James’ 4000 sq. ft. space is that it offers a venue for the entire community to use and enjoy. From quinceaneras to special events featuring local musicians — ABOUT THE MUSIC offers a breadth of possible community events and meetings.
Since the completion of his visionary space last March, James has been working tirelessly to meet the City regulatory requirements for rest rooms, food, drink and parking. Oh yes, PARKING. We forgot to mention that the other overlooked advantage to Greg James’ facility is that the premises include a large adjacent parking space that accommodated a gathering of over 200 people for his soft opening on March 31, 2018.
Surprisingly, James has not met with resistance from actual residents in the area in regards to his vision, but from small art galleries across the street on Fox Street who have expressed concerns of parking congestion. The parking area for ABOUT THE MUSIC is in a large, separate, location; however. James believes that once City Council members view the premises, they will see that ample parking has been provided.
There is going to be increasing need for this meeting space located in the new Siler Rufina Nexus neighborhood. Remodeled by Greg James, a semi-retired New Mexico film professional, the space affords ample parking on the premises.
Visit Greg James venue and you will find a clean, contemporary space with public rest rooms and smaller meeting/class spaces in addition to the huge event space with built-in stage and sound enhancements.
CITY OF SANTA FE HEARING DEC 6
There will be a hearing at City Council Chambers at 6pm on Tuesday, December 4th to determine if ABOUT THE MUSIC may move forward. ABOUT THE MUSIC is in dire need of community support for the hearing. Musicians and community leaders can speak in support of the place and the city’s need for the music and event venue. Attendance at the CITY MEETING DEC 4 WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED, but you can also send an email to Margaret Ambrosino at firstname.lastname@example.org to speak in support of ABOUT THE MUSIC.
I believe that ABOUT THE MUSIC is the perfect addition to The Siler Rufina Nexus, and hope that you will support this venue that will be available for all of Santa Fe to enjoy. — Greg James
